On Tuesday, September 24, the Community Outreach Center (COC) successfully conducted a comprehensive Transportation Safety Training in response to numerous requests from local schools.

Transportation managers and school administrators from local nonpublic schools, along with representatives from the Ramapo Police Department and the East Ramapo Central School District (ERCSD) Transportation Department, participated in the event.

The event featured key presentations by experts from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Pupil Transportation Services and the NYS Department of Transportation (DOT). These presentations systematically covered a variety of critical topics, including requirements for transportation vendors, regulations and mandatory driver training, safety protocols, adherence to DOT and DMV guidelines, fleet maintenance best practices, and hiring procedures for bus drivers.

“We are all here because we want to do everything possible to ensure the safety of our children,” said Rabbi Horowitz, Executive Director of COC, at the Seminar. “Learning about bus safety and doing what we’ve learned is a big step in the right direction, and we’re glad to help our community with this.”
